Former Liverpool shot stopper Chris Kirkland sympthathises with Adrián after the Spaniard's made a fatal mistake in last night's defeat to Atlético Madrid.
Liverpool looked home and dry last night. A Roberto Firmino strike in extra-time put the Reds 2-0 up on the night, meaning their passage to the Champions League quarter-final looked assured.
However although the visitors rarely threatened before Firmino's 94th minute strike, Diego Simeone's men out of nowehere turned the tie on its head.
Substitute Marcos Llorente netted twice before a last minute Alvaro Morata strike put the game firmly beyond doubt.

It was Adrián, starting in place of the injured Alisson, who gave Atlético a lifeline in the crazy game at Anfield. A simple clearance from the Spaniard was anything but. His attempted clearance went straight to Joao Felix who fed Marcos Llorente and after some lovely footwork from the ex-Real Madrid midfielder, found the back of the net from just outside the box.
That strike meant although losing 2-1 on the night, Atlético were still set to go through due to away goals. Liverpool, needing another goal, became vulnerable at the back and the away side capitalised on it, scoring a further two.
Speaking to Love Sport Breakfast on Adrián's mistake last night, former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland had some sympathy for the club's back up 'keeper who hasn't played regularly under Klopp.
"There's no hiding the fact that he has made mistakes. It's difficult though, you'll know as well Rich [Lee] that when you come in and out of the team like he has done.

"Alisson's the undisputed number one and I think that puts extra pressure on him because of how well Alisson's performed; people are waiting for the chance that, if the number two keeper comes in, doesn't do as well, he's under extra pressure, you've got to take a chance.
"And unfortunately he made a mistake at Chelsea the other night and last night, but he knows that he's big enough, he's got a big enough character. He's been superb since he's been at the club under difficult circumstances when he first came as well with Alisson getting injured, and obviously won the Super Cup with a team and helped them to do that.

"So listen, he'll recover and he's got to do quickly because it looks as though he'll be playing at Everton on Monday night.
"I'm not sure what the contract situation is with Adrian but listen, I'll be amazed if he's not at the club next year because of what he's done and performed and not just on the pitch, but off the pitch. He's in the dressing room, he's very lively. The lads have took to him extremely well. So when you made mistakes in high profile games, these are the questions that are always going to be asked."
